Huub Villevoye is the secretary/treasurer of The Optical Foundation. With his extensive experience as director of the ABN-AMRO Bank, it’s a privilege to work with him as he selflessly pours his experience into establishing projects in Ghana. It seems almost obvious that he would be managing the finances of The OpticalFoundation.
In February 2007 Huub travelled with the optometrist Carolina Kunnen to the coastal city of Cape Coast for a few weeks to visit the University and set the first concrete actions plans in motion. Meanwhile Huub’s has been actively involved with The Optical Foundation for nine years.
Huub is no stranger to the voluntary sector. Before his retirement Huub was an active (board) member of numerous associations in Maastricht. After his retirement he stayed active as a volunteer for many organisations in many areas, but mainly those of a social nature. In 2003 he retired as chairman of “Friends of the LSO”, an association he had co-founded, which in 13 years had reached a membership of 4,000 friends.
Besides his voluntary work, travelling and gardening are his biggest hobbies.
