At the annual conference of the American Academy of Optometry, Carolina was awarded the prestigious William C. Ezell Fellowship, this was granted by the Michael G. Harris Ezell Fund.

The American Optometric Foundation has been awarding the Ezell Fellowship by to talented PhD Optometry students since 1947. It aims to encourage these students to build on an outstanding career in Optometry. Carolina has received this award both for her PhD research as well as her work with The Optical Foundation.
