Volk Lens 90D alternative prize for The Optical Foundation’s 2020 Frans Oosterhof Travel Grant winners

In January 2020 we were excited to announce the two winners of The Optical Foundation’s Frans Oosterhof Travel Grant to attend the 2020 Netherlands Contact Lens Congress (NCC) in Veldhoven, Netherlands. However in March 2020, a week before the commencement date, the congress was cancelled and world was hurled into the grips of a global pandemic.

As international travel was suspended and all in person conferences cancelled, our grant winners were left deprived of the opportunity, but to ensure they were not left empty handed Volk donated two Volk 90D Lenses to present to each of the winners as an alternative prize.

Miss Asantewa Aboagye MacCarthy from the University of Cape Coast and Mr Isaiah Osei Duah Junior from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology were presented the Volk lens at their respective Universities by TOF’s board member Daudi Mohammed-Ameen and a local Volk representative.

It is with immense gratitude that we acknowledge Volk for making these two 90D lenses available and allowing us to celebrate these two outstanding students.
